Chris Buck

Ever since moving to New York  in 1990, Canadian-born celebrity photographer Chris Buck has been forging a distinctive portraiture style that’s been described by former Esquire Magazine Art Director, George Lois, as “a mystery, a pervading, off-putting idea, always conceptual, often visceral, and sometimes unfathomable.” As one of today’s most sought after editorial photographer’s, and a recent Photo Plus Expo speaker, Buck’s unique approach never ceases to intrigue. His new  112-page 11” x 9” hardcover book, PRESENCE: The Invisible Portrait, (Kehrer Verlag), presents a confounding series of fifty editorial portrait photographs in which no human figure can actually be seen. Buck will be talking about his counterintuitive concept at Aperture Gallery and Bookstore Tuesday, December 4, followed by a book signing.
