Today marks one month until the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards close for all entries.
The awards are one of the world’s largest photography contest that includes categories for both professional and amateur photographers. All amateur competitions close January 4, 2013, while professional categories close January 9, 2013.
The Sony World Photography Awards, along with the World Photography Organization (WPO), supports professional and amateur photographers, giving them a global platform to communicate and cultivate discussions through their artistic imagery. The competition offers ten diverse categories, ranging from action to travel. Each photographer is able to enter up to three photographs for free, from which the winners will be selected. Professional photographers will compete for the coveted title of L’Iris d’Or/Sony World Photography Awards Professional Photographer of the Year 2013, plus a $25,000 (USD) cash prize.  Amateur photographers will contend in the Open Photographer of the Year 2013 title, plus $5,000 (USD) cash prize.  All category winners will receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony.

Both winning and shortlisted photographers across each category will receive worldwide recognition and exposure as a result of the awards. In partnership with London Heathrow Express (which is one of London’s largest railway link to central London), photographers will exhibit entries from the competition on their on-board entertainment system, Express TV, on digital screens.
