Fujifilm has been making waves with their latest crop of cameras, especially in the X series line. For CES, they announced an update to their top tier super zoom cameras–and the HS50EXR will not disappoint! The camera has a 16MP 1/2″ EXR 2 CMOS sensor and a 42x manual optical zoom lens. To take full advantage of what the lens and sensor can do together, Fujifilm has incorporated Phase Detection focusing into the camera as well, which translates into a claimed autofocusing speed of 0.05 seconds.
In addition to Phase Detection, the camera also uses an Intelligent Hybrid autofocus system, switches the camera from Phase Detection to Contrast Detection based on the light available.
The camera also boasts other major features, such as an enhanced OIS for a longer zoom range, a 3 inch, vari-angle LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder with a 920k resolution, respectively, the Q menu button from the X series of cameras, 1080 60P HD video, and stereo microphones.
Expect the HS50EXR to launch in March and retail for around $549.95. Pay attention to the news surrounding CES, Fujifilm announced more cameras as well!
