Finish this Sentence: A long time ago_________. If you didn’t immediately think “in a galaxy far, far away,” you have been deprived of a serious cultural milestone. A quick breakdown of human accomplishments goes something like this: Fire, Wheel, Star Wars, the Internet.
The new Star Wars films are slated to open in the summer of 2015 and J.J. Abrams has been tapped to direct VII. That is as much as I know, that is as much as I want to know. I’m going to spend the next two years jamming my fingers into my ears and running away from anything that might tell me anything about the movies beyond that. While there are nerds out there who are outspokenly against the sequels, it’s not like their concerns are without merit. Episodes I-III were pretty awful, before the prequels the Star Wars franchise was ninety-nine percent amazing (Star Wars Holiday Special). Yes, that was real. But as bad as the second set of Star Wars movies were, no number of bad prequels, sequels or spin-offs can ruin the original films. So I’m excited about the new films. I’m excited that for the first time in my lifetime there will be a Star Wars film, not directed by George Lucas. Sorry buddy.
While fanboys (and girls) worldwide wait in fear and hope for the upcoming films, here are some rare behind the scenes photos from The Empire Strikes Back.
