One of the most remarkable things about the surprisingly adaptable iPhone has been the number of third party applications and hardware that is offered for it. Often times these products really expand on the phone’s capabilities, making it infinitely more useful then it is straight out of the box. One such example is the Luxi Incident Light Meter adapter for iPhone.
How does it work? It’s pretty simple piece of hardware that fits nicely over the front facing camera of the phone. The whole idea behind is that the reflected light meter that already comes on your camera is highly inaccurate in giving you a reading for the whole scene. In practice, your photos will come out much, much darker and look underexposed.
As opposed to more pricy (and hideously ugly options) the Luxi Incident Light Meter is compact and stealth, not to mention way cheaper. It partners very nicely with a device you already carry in your pocket at all times. Luxi makes using this thing crazy simple by developing an app that gives the reading and syncs it to your DSLR. Pretty nifty. If you like this idea you can check out the Incident Light Meter adapter here, for sale at $29.99 USD.
