Move over bathroom selflies because here comes a new breed of daredevil photographers. These urban climbers shoot illegal images of themselves in extreme and perilous places in the name of adrenalin pumping photographs, which we’re sure we won’t be seeing from the selfie generation any time soon.

Andrew Tso

In an interview with Daily Mail, Andrew describes the feeling of his unusual photography hobby; “Being at the top is always a thrill, and no matter what people say about being fearless, there’s always an element of uncertainty and fear. Sometimes it makes me uncomfortable, but I feed off that tension and try to push myself a little more each time.” The 26 year-old Hong Kong native definitely lives up to the daredevil stunt skills of fellow countrymen like action star Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and Samo Hung. Andrew, however, does his work on places that rise high above the Earth. Whether standing on an edge atop a tall building in Hong Kong or in London, Andrew’s “rooftopping” is here to both delight and worry people.

“Your audience can really see how comfortable you are based on the quality of the photo. Sometimes you just have to put yourself in an awkward or unsure situation to capture what you want,” Tso said. Still, he insists he doesn’t feel invincible to the towering heights and does feel fear. Yet, it’s that same fear that drives him to continually be adventurous. “These photos I take still terrify me sometimes. If there ever comes a day when heights don’t make me uncomfortable, I’ll stop taking these,” Tso said.

Vitaliy Raskalov and Vadim Makhorov

This pair of Russian urban climbers, Vitaliy Raskalov and Vadim Makhovov, also scale the world’s tallest structures in pursuit of thrill, adventure and, of course, amazing photography. Vitaliy tells the Daily Mail, “We are just chasing the dream and always looking to go to the next highest point to see the things no one else gets to see. We don’t mean to trespass or harm anyone one so we do often have to wait until the coast is clear. But when you get there the views are spectacular and we want to keep going until we have mastered every city.”

In a span of one month, they conquered seven countries and twelve cities including Paris, Stockholm, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Cologne, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Prague, Porto, Warsaw and Benidorm. While dangling close to the edge of a one skyscraper or another, they took turns photographing each other. The pair has since garnered many fans around the world who have become eager to see their next daredevil photo-shoot.
