If there’s anything last week’s “Snappening” proved it was two things: 1) Regardless of how these “hackers” obtained the snaps it was still Snapchat’s fault. 2) Snapchat is used for a lot more than sending dirty photos and has been for a long time. In fact, the app’s used so frequently that some have even began abusing it, which has resulted in the deaths of two young men.
Last summer, a filmmaker named Matthew James quietly released a movie documenting his close friend’s heinous Snapchat addiction. The video contains interviews and intervention attempts leading up to a fatal incident. He gave me permission to share this with our audience to raise awareness for what he calls “a disease.” CAUTION: this video contains graphic material.
