It is with great excitement that Resource Magazine, today, reveals the EyeTime 2014 Finalists. Digital photography has not only transformed the way imagery is produced, interpreted and shared, but has created new opportunities across all levels of medium. Of course, this pretty much goes without saying, but among the most notable of these opportunities is the EyeTime 2014 Photo Competition presented by the Morpholio Project—a company that “seeks to create new platforms for presentation, dialogue, and collaboration relevant to all designers, artists and members of any image driven culture” through a group of apps named on “Best App” lists by USA Today, Metropolis Magazine, Gizmodo and more.
First launched three years ago, the competition features an all-star panel of judges ranging from industry influencers such as Lin YeeYuan of The NY Times, Billy Cunningham of ICP, APA National President Juliette Wolf-Robin, Resource Magazine’s very own Alexandra Niki and Adam Sherwin to name a few. With two contest categories, Future Voices (students only) and Emerging Talent (young professionals or enthusiasts), entrants were required to submit a collection of three images with accompanying titles. Read our post about the contest here.
Additionally, the EyeTime 2014 competition honors the tragically short life of Jessica Lum, an award-winning photographer, reporter, editor and humanitarian. As an esteemed jury member for EyeTime 2012, her contributions to the profession of photojournalism should never be forgotten. “When I write and when I take pictures, I realize that it isn’t me trying to create something, it’s me trying to preserve the moment. But in preserving the moment, I’m not trying to battle the inevitability of time passing. I’m simply trying to understand the moment,” she said. Everyone involved with the EyeTime competition was incredibly saddened by the loss of such a talented individual but knows that her inspirational spirit will live on through the creativity of all EyeTime competitors past, present and future.
While this year’s winners and honorable mentions will be announced on Dec. 4, the EyeTime 2014 finalists represent the very best of a diverse group that brought more entries than ever before, according to Morpholio Co-Creator/Researcher Jeff Kenoff. For now, look below for our exclusive release of the EyeTime 2014 finalists and stay tuned for future announcements regarding the EyeTime 2014 winners.
