Photographer Meagan ‘Irene’ Abell recently stumbled on a box of vintage medium format negatives preserved in plastic sleeves in a thrift store in Richmond, VA. Curious what they might contain, Meagan scanned them only to be met with some of the most spectacular photos one could imagine. Talk about a find!
Now Meagan is determined to find the women pictured in the photos, and/or the original photographer.
According to SLR Lounge:
When Meagan inquired with the owner of the Thrift Store to see if she knew who might have dropped the box off, the owner had no idea. So now Meagan needs our help to find the subjects in the photos or the original photographer. From the looks of the images, it appears that they were shot around the 1940’s-1950’s. There are two subjects in the negatives but shot at different times which makes her wonder if maybe the two ladies were photographing one another.
Meagan has started a hashtag, #FindTheGirlsOnTheNegatives, in order to help get these images reunited with the women in the photos. It’s unfortunate that her face is hard to make out, since most of the shots are taken from behind her, but the images are so good, so unique, it’s hard to believe someone wouldn’t recognize them.
