Fusing a series of components into his portrait photography, José Juan Hernández Loza (@thomgregory) continues to build a stunning collection that conveys a little bit of everything. From political statements, to self expression of his subjects to the other underlining narratives mostly absent in most portrait images, he showers his almost 27,000 followers on Instagram with his latest creations. A farmer by occupation based in the scenic countrysides of San Julián, Jalisco in the western part of Mexico, 23-year-old José Juan gathers all his creative ideas from his head and sketches it in his notepad before photographing it. As a member of a large household comprising of 11 children, he never ran out of ideas as his big family enjoys pooling in their own inventive ideas in helping him improve his skills and his passion for photography.
Right now, José Juan is focused on photographing people by showcasing their expression while mixing it with other inventive elements. “I have a passion for portraits because I want to capture that moment when you can show how beautiful a person is,” José Juan tells Instagram blog, “I really like to cover the faces because I love the mystery. I like when people see my photos and wonder what’s the meaning behind them. When you do what you like, you are happy. All your dreams can come true if you work for them.” he adds.
Churning out an array of techniques highlighting rich colors to black and white portraits to cool and subdued compositions, José Juan’s series of portraits gives his ever-expanding legion of followers a variety of photographs to look at. Thus, also elevating himself as an artist who is not relegated by limitations as he further expand his creative talent as time goes by.
