CheeringTech’s third generation CASE Remote finally merges convenience and affordability. They named their “world’s smallest and most powerful” device “CASE Remote Air,” and it enables you to wirelessly control your camera with your smartphone or PC through a WiFi hotspot, created when it’s connected through your camera’s USB. Like the crowdfunding frenzy for the world’s smallest 360° camera, funds for the CASE Remote Air also come pouring in on its Indiegogo campaign page.
The new camera controller is equipped with lots of advanced functions, including live-view, parameter editing, HDR, focus-stacking, bulb, time-lapse, social sharing and video control. An excellent (iOS only) review on how to use all those tools, was made by PhotoRec TV‘s Toby Gelston – see below. Another video, by Matthew Gore, shows how to use the CASE Remote Air with Windows and Lightroom.
The CASE Remote Air is compatible with quite a few Nikon and Canon DSLR camera’s, and works on both iOS Android Mac or Windows devices To mount it, you only need a hot shoe, a 1/4” screw hole and a clip. But CheeringTech also offers mount heads, tripods, relays and other camera accessories on Indiegogo, “to make CASE Air more powerful.”
However “powerful” they say their new device is, we did notice that their app is not the fastest one. Other things we keep in mind are the 6.5 hour battery life (9 hours on stand by) and the 3M/s transfer speed, which is “very sensitive and adversely affected by distance and obstacles. The closer you are the camera and the clearer the line of the sight, the better connection. With no obstacles, the CASE Remote Air can be controlled from about 150 feet.”
Oh, and you can get one for $84 + shipping, if you hurry up. That’s 57% off the $199 retail price for a limited time.
