Today is both a day of happiness and sadness. On one hand, our Instagram feed is flooded with beautiful photos from our community who is out enjoying a three-day holiday weekend while on the other hand, we reported on the video that shows the intentional destruction of Duckbill Rock in Cape Kiwanda, Oregon.

So, as we do every week, we will bring you the incredible beauty of the world with this week’s #ResourceTravel Instagram Photos of the Week. But yesterday’s news is a sobering reminder that the beauty is disappearing at an alarming rate, and it’s mostly thanks to mankind. As you celebrate the end of summer with this three-day weekend, please remember to leave no trace, and do your part in helping protect earth’s valuable and fragile nature.

Check out the selections below and remember to follow us on Instagram and use the hashtag #ResourceTravel for a chance to be featured.

The Hamadryas baboons (Papio hamadryas), from the Old World monkey family, roams the semi-deserts of the Horn of Africa and the Arabian peninsula. These regions provide habitats with the advantage for this species of fewer natural predators than more central or southern Africa. There society is very remarkable: it is highly organised into groups with a male leader who herds up to 10 females and their young. Different one male groups forms a clan together, multiple clans form a band, and a aggregation of bands forms a troop. The ancient Egyptians considered Hamadyras baboons to be sacred, however, they are now extinct in Egypt. #Nikon #nature #biology #Hamadyras #baboons #Mekelle #Ethiopia #cliff #natgeotravel #natgeo #naturefacts #naturephotography #worldframeclub #resourcetravel #resourcemag #nikonphotography #photooftheday #instagood #igs_nature #photoarena_nature #africa #adventure #igs_africa #beautiful #primate #Soultravelers #thebarefootwalker

The Feast. 😳 Yesterday morning was up there with cool experiences I've had. Being surrounded by more humpback whales than we could even come close to counting, holding our breath as we'd watch them vanish under the boat and seeing them come up to the surface like this just made me feel so small. Even through the chaos of circling seabirds, including huge pelicans, with dolphins and seals joining the party, there's still something so very peaceful about hearing the humpbacks sing. It was a pleasure getting to spend the morning shooting with Vincent Shay and Lee Egan on the SEAWEED EXPRESS and I would absolutely recommend a trip with Lee – being so close to the surface of the water certainly added to the experience. This was shot with Nikon D7000 + Nikkor 70-200mm/f2.8 – I cropped this as 2:1 but this was the exact frame left-right. I almost lost it when I saw they all lined up so well.
