GoPro has announced they are recalling 2,500 Karma drones due to the possibility of the units losing power during operation.”The recall was announced after we discovered that in a small number of cases, Karma units lost power during operation.” You might be wondering how many are affected, and you would probably be surprised to hear that it’s… all of the drones sold at this point, backed up by GoPro’s language on their website: “We are recalling all Karma units and providing a full refund.”
That is to say, they aren’t exchanging them. If everyone complies with the recall, there will be no Karma drones on the market at all.
You can send your Karma back to GoPro directly, or to the place where it was purchased for a full refund.
All in all, not good news for a company whose stock is suffering handily and who needs a miracle in the fourth quarter to have anything to show for 2016.
This, and reviews like the one below, are probably a death knell for the GoPro drone, a product that doesn’t seem to have even made it out of the gate.
