Thanks to a Microsoft update, Cortana is now capable of reminding us of things we may have already forgotten. By utilizing machine learning, the virtual assistant is able to recognize phrases in your emails that you have sent to important people in your life.

For example, if you promised to have lunch with your grandmother on Sunday, Cortana will gently let you know. Now there is no getting out of plans you made two weeks ago when your family sent you on a guilt trip for not visiting enough.

Familial promises aside, this feature can be very helpful for photographers and creatives. With so much to do during the day, from shooting to managing clients, keeping up with all of your calls, meetings and engagements can be a task in itself. This is where Cortana comes in; she will scan your emails and send you a reminder when needed. Even more, you can customize Cortana to choose how and when you’d like to be reminded of things. All you need to do is turn on the feature in your Cortana settings, and for once, let someone else do the work for you, aside from your IRL assistant, that is.

These reminders will be available on the new Windows 10 and is anticipated to be added to smartphone operating systems within the next few weeks.
