Marcia Michael is a UK based photographer who recently took a series of black and white portraits called “Study of Kin” on FotoVisura. As a photographer Marcia Michael was focusing on the historical role of black people in photography and how some photographers and photographs have paved the way for black photographers and people behind the lens. Michael’s is from Islington in London, U.K.  Her images are all constructed pieces. She has studied at Derby University, Bournemouth and Poole college of art and design and London College of Communication (formally London college of Printing). She is also trained in fine arts photography. For her photographs in “Study of Kin” she studied different historical techniques to make her images stand out and evoke an era. She used techniques such as photo etching, gravure, wet plate collodion and allbumen printing. In photography she hope to achieve receiving lost information with beauty.
