Google Zeitgeist 2011

It’s hard for most of us to remember what we did last week so try remembering what you’ve searched for Google this
year!  Good thing Google has! Every year, for the past 7 years, the search engine giant Google, has made a list of the most popular and fastest rising searches of the year. Only problem is that the list, as you can imagine, is long and a lot of people don’t take the time to read it entirely. Imagine that! Our “Gotta have it now” society is too lazy to read a brief list!

But the ever improving Google has found a solution for that as well! They’ve made a video called Zeitgeist 2011 of the list.  (Fun fact: Zeitgeist means “the spirit of the age”). It’s directed by Scott Chan, of Whirled, and set to the soothing Mat Kearney song “Sooner or Later”.

Zeitgeist 2011: Year in review

The video highlights major events an exciting new way, which reflects the “spirit” of our time in 2011. It includes things from the culturally ridiculed Rebecca Black, to the revolutions in the Middle East, all the way to the popular Dunkan cupcakes, among dieters.

In addition, the Google blog has re-organized and made the list more relevant per individual by allowing you to select a specific region or country from the ten most popular searches in that region or country.

So, how do you feel about the video? Did any of your favorite searches make the list?  There is only one way to know for sure.  Check it out yourself and tell us what you think! We’d love to hear from you all.
